These anchors are NOT for yards with rocky soils. My yard seems to have a layer of rocks within the soil at around the 12 inch depth mark which caused issues with installing these auger anchors. When a rock was encountered I was not able to screw the auger anymore therefore the depth at which the anchor stopped was only 12 inches into the ground leaving half the length of the stake out of the ground and probably will not hold when the real big winds come.
My biggest problem occured when I tried to muscle the auger past the rock layer, when I heard a snap and the welded auger blades broke off the main shaft and left a straight pole which I just pulled out of the ground. So with the rest of the anchors I stopped when the shafts were ceased up by the rock layer.
These would probably work well if your yard had nice rock free soil, but for yards with the possiblity of a rocky base I would not recommend these anchors. Therefor my rating is just above bad.
